General Badge Information
This applies to Brownie-Ambassador level troops...(Daisy's have a different structure to badge/patch earning but Daisy leaders should read this as it will apply to you once you bridge up).
Each level offers legacy badges, cookie badges, financial badges and then skill building badges.
If you buy one of the level binders, it comes with the legacy, cookie and financial badge requirements in them. If you want the skill building badges, they are in a packet at the store...usually five badges come in a packet and they are "suggested" to compliment a journey. YOU CAN EARN ANY OF THEM even if you aren't doing that journey.
In addition to these badges, they have introduced two "new" outdoor badges for the past two years. Last year was the outdoor adventure and this year is the outdoor art. Each level, Brownie-Ambassador has one of each for their level.
Under the legacy each level has one that focuses on
Artist, Athlete, Citizen, Cook, First Aid, Girl Scout Ways and Naturalist...
As you go up in each level they get more in depth and focus on something a little different in that area.
In the financial literacy, each level has two, so you can have the girls earn one each year (cadettes has three since they are three years).
In the Cookie Business, each level has two, so you can have the girls earn one each year (cadettes has three since they are three years).
Each of the three journey's has five "skill building" badges that compliment that journey.

****At the end of the day, each level has 26 badges (now 28 with the two new outdoor badges) that they can earn in those two years...Cadettes has 28 (now 30) that they can earn in their three years.
Ambassadors has far less as girls are focused on Gold Awards and preparing for college. They offer 7 legacy badges, two financial, two cookie and two outdoor.

Many leaders have already done something...so don't reinvent the wheel....Pair up with another troop....check out a SU event and see if you can complete a part of a badge by attending....Your girls are probably earning things that you don't even know about.
There are great ways to track things that girls do...go to Pinterest or the internet and search...leaders have created great spreadsheets by level to track the things that girls complete towards a badge.
